Pecan Pie


  • 9 ″ Unbaked Pie Shell – store bought or hand made
  • 1 Cup plus 1 Tablespoon Maple Syrup
  • 1 Cup Organic Cane Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter
  • 3 Large Eggs slightly beaten
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Sea Salt
  • 1 1/2 Cups Pecan Halves


  1. Preheat oven to 400ºF.
  2. Measure sugar and butter and place in a medium bowl.
  3. Heat maple syrup in a medium sauce pan over medium heat until temperature is 225ºF, using a candy thermometer.
  4. Once the syrup reaches 225º, pour over sugar and butter. Let the mixture sit for at least one minute, ensuring that the butter has melted.
  5. Whisk ingredients together.
  6. Whisk in beaten eggs, vanilla and sea salt.
  7. Add pecans and stir well.
  8. Pour into pie shell.
  9. Bake for 15 minutes, then reduce heat to 350ºF and bake for 25-30 minutes longer. The center may not be fully set, but the edges should be. Center will set as it cools.
  10. Serve warm or at room temperature.
